Description

The project is located along the left descending bank of Lake Sharpe near the Lower Brule, SD town site. Lower Brule North Element 2 includes a 100-foot-wide riparian planting bench, a gravel maintenance path along the entire reach, a riprap revetment to protect the shoreline and island from erosion, and the creation of a 200-by-1,500-foot island constructed in water up to three feet deep. The sheltered open water area between the island and the shoreline will develop into approximately 5.17 acres of emergent wetland, and this will also create approximately 32 acres of riparian habitat.
